Fall 2019 Newsletter – Victoria PiMakers And Others

VicPiMakers is a group of people who use the Raspberry Pi, the Arduino, and Other micro boards running embedded Linux systems to build projects learn Linux, Networks and computer programming. We are based in Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, Canada.

Interested in going beyond laptops and desktop computers into the exciting world of computer programming, networks, electronics, prototyping, robotics, and embedded Linux systems? Or do you just want to use your Raspberry Pi or Arduino to learn to program, or build a robot, or put together a weather station for your school or home? We are a group of people of all ages, abilities, and skills who want to learn how to make things and how they work. We have twice monthly Victoria PiMakers meetings, once monthly Linux and network special interest group (SIG) meetings, yearly Raspberry Pi Intro programs and lots of great discussions and even some social fun.

Learning Sessions

Intro to Pi & Others consists of four sessions, each building on the previous one. The basics of hardware and software for the Raspberry Pi will be explored. We want to help you get up and running and making with your Pi or Other (embedded device). Sessions are 90 minutes in length, where you will learn the essentials and are free to ask questions. Please bring in your Pi, power supply and an hdmi cable. All other equipment will be provided, such as LEDs, resistors, breadboards, cables, etc. Our 2020 spring session dates will be announced soon.
