ESP8266 OTA (Over the Air) Updates with Arduino IDE. OTA update is the process of loading a new firmware to ESP8266 module using WiFi connection rather than a serial communication. This type of functionality is extremely useful in case of no physical access to the ESP module.

This presentation, by Greg Lawrance, will include a hands on session for those who want to learn more. Please bring your PI, and preload the software referred to in the meetup announcement.

php and sql lite PHP the language of the Web (well one of the languages) can connect to SQLlite on the backend, storing your dynamic content in a database. In this presentation, you will see how to make that connection, and directly populate data (into your database) from the Web.

Intro to Pi & Others is a short monthly session to help get you up and running with your Pi or Other (embedded device). It is an unstructured hour-long session where you can ask questions, bring in your Pi or Other (and power supply), and get help with your project.

We plan on holding these sessions once a month on a Tuesday night. If you are looking for a bit of help, this session is for you.

We have been discussing different aspects of the Network, however, we should also give consideration to Network Security. In fact, this should be part of your thinking when designing any network, not an after thought.

In this presentation/lab, we'll give a brief Introduction to Network Security and some basic pen testing tools.

Bring a laptop or similar device with Wireshark installed and we'll explore live Pen Testing in our "lab" network.

Afterword, we will go out for a beer/coffee.

NetSIG is a Special Interest Group focused on computer networking. Building networks for Today and Tomorrow! We will be meeting virtually and in person at the Quality Foods Small Boardroom at Eagle Ridge in View Royal.
