Sounds like we need a USB-C to VGA adapter to connect Mark’s Macbook to the VGA cable. I don’t have one of these. To go direct HDMI we’d need a long HDMI cable (> 10-ft?) plus the ability to change the output port on the overhead projector, which (maybe) means having the remote for it.
The USB-C to VGA adapter is more straightforward, IMHO.

Hi Stuart, et all,

On the back of the computer in the front of the room (I think it is a Mac), there is a white adapter from Mac-something to VGA. Then there is a blue headed black VGA cable which connects to the projector.

Typically, we disconnect the black (blue-headed) VGA cable from the white adapter, and plug our own adapters (as needed) into the VGA cable.

There is a HDMI interface on the projector, And I believe Deid has hooked his Chromecast to that port, and casted to it.

I hope this helps,

aloha,

Craig...

It would really help to know which ports and cable end we are looking at: on the Macbook, and on the QCollege overhead cable. Details, please! I have a Mini Display port to VGA adapter that may work. I’ll bring it.

Sorry Mark,

I usually loan the speaker my adapter. Unfortunately, that adapter is in Hawaii (with me). Andrew R. has an adapter, but he couldn't get it working with his Linux laptop at the last meeting.

Hmm, I already have the HDMI ends.  I might need an HDMI to
VGA or DVI, depending on the projector.  Thanks, though.

thunderbolt or something, to the HDMI connector on televisions.
