Agreed, Eileen,

I look forward to hearing how the vibe coding went, what went
well, what needed to be fixed manually (if one can figure out the
code).

AND it sounds like a cool project.

Thanks Gordo,

Hi All,

I purchased a Waveshare 5" round display and a Pi Zero 2W
to create a wall display with nearby flights on a faux
radar screen, and I plan to demo this project on the 10th.

The application is entirely vibe coded in C using the
LVGL library to write to the framebuffer, and so far it:

pulls flight information from my local ADSB decoder
and supplements that data with flight details from
adsb.fi.

shows the flight position with heading, tail/flight
number, and altitude.

colours aircraft positions cyan if using local data,
green if from adsb.fi, grey for on the ground (taxiing
or at the gate), and red if squawking 7500 (hijacking),
7600 (radio failure), or 7700 (emergency).

simulates a radar sweep and updates the flight
positions and causes the pins to glow momentarily when
the sweep crosses the aircraft.

keeps the track for the last 120 seconds of flight,
and removes it when the aircraft goes beyond the edge of
the screen or lands.

Before the meeting, I hope to have added the following
features:

display detailed aircraft and flight information when
you touch on one of the pins.

switch to a weather/clock screen after period of
inactivity, or by swiping.

show a coloured ring at the edge of the display if
there's a local weather warning.

Take care, Gordo
